PAFA Jamboree
PAFA Jamboree Rules
TIME FRAME:
Scrimmages will be played in a 1-1.5-hour time frame. Teams must be warmed up and, on the field, ready to snap the ball at the start time. The Press Box Announcer will guide the teams during the rotations.
CHECK IN:
THE HEAD COACH SHOULD CHECK IN AT THE FRONT OF THE PRESS BOX TO NOTIFY US THAT THEY ARE IN ATTENDANCE AND THEY WILL BE GIVEN AN AREA TO WARM UP. PLEASE ARRIVE AT LEAST A HALF HOUR BEFORE START TIME TO ASSURE PARKING AND PROPER WARM UP TIME!!
GAME PLAY:
• When on offense you have VARIOUS minutes of running clock to run as many plays as you like. Time will be on the Scoreboard. You can huddle or go no huddle, that is all up to you. The Defense must be ready to play regardless. If the ball hits the ground or is intercepted, then the play is blown dead immediately!
• Coaches may use diagrams; iPads or any other materials that helps the team get in and out of the huddle more efficiently. The goal here is to play football and not waste time in huddles.
• We will put the ball on the 40-yard line and work into the end zone. There are no first downs or chains but the volunteer refs will blow each play dead and spot the ball appropriately. If you score a touchdown then we bring the ball back to the 40 and start going again. If you choose to kick extra points or field goals that is up to you but remember there is a running clock.
• The clock does not stop except after touchdowns and until the ball is set at the 40 again. There are no timeouts and water should be consumed during break periods. Clock stops on serious injuries.
• There are no official penalties but the volunteer refs will be calling out penalties to both the players and the coaches and spotting the ball.
• It usually takes about 2 minutes to transition on and off the field after each rotation. Help move your kids at all times!
• EVERY TEAM CAN HAVE TWO COACHES IN THE HUDDLE IF THEY CHOOSE. Each team can have ONE camera person filming from either outside the endzone or on the 50-yard line. They cannot follow the ball as it progresses toward the goal line. VISITING TEAMS CANNOT FILM FROM PRESS BOX – SORRY IT IS A LIABILITY ISSUE AND WE CANNOT ALLOW IT SO PLEASE LET YOUR COACHES KNOW NOT TO ASK.
